ABOUT
Welcome to the English Audio Translation of the Quran
About This Project
This English audio translation of the meaning of the Quran was created to make the Quran more accessible everyone and to overcome to barriers of language and reading.
Whether you’re a Muslim or someone who is looking into Islam and perhaps doesn’t understand arabic, or someone that doesn’t enjoy reading, struggles with reading or has a visual impairment. Perhaps you prefer to listen to something rather than reading, then this project was created for you!
I hope that by listening to this translation, people will connect with the Quran and with God in a deeper way. For those who are not Muslim but are curious about Islam, I hope this serves as a valuable resource in understanding the message of the Quran and Islam.
Why I Created This Project
This project was inspired by a reporting assignment for BBC Sunday Morning Live, a faith-based show. During this assignment, I visited a ‘talking newspaper’ for blind individuals and met two amazing people who relied on this service. I found both people incredibly inspiring, they were both Christian and shared how their faith in God brought them peace.
One of them spoke of how they loved to listen to the bible and as I drove home, I couldn’t stop thinking about that conversation.
It made me wonder how someone like them—or anyone unable to read Arabic or at all—would access the Quran. What about Muslims with dyslexia? Those who struggle with reading? Those who simply prefer audio learning? Allah SWT inspired my heart to make this project a reality.
Another barrier to accessing the Quran could be monetary or simply knowing where to find one. This project breaks those barriers and is free for all to access and use – and it always will be.
I pray this audio book series helps you deepen your connection to our creator and his book, improves your life and inspires you, like it has done for me.
The Quran is truly a gift from God to humankind, hearing and understanding its pages will aid you in this life and the next.
How This Translation Was Created
This is not a word-for-word translation of the Quran but rather an interpretation of its meaning in English. To ensure the most accurate and accessible translation, I carefully examined multiple English translations of the Quran and compared them line by line. The translations I consulted include:
Saheeh International, Muhammad Abdel Haleem, Dr Mustafa Khattab, Talal Itani, Dr Leila Bakhtiar, Yusuf Ali, Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall and Yahyah Emerick (for additional context).
To ensure accuracy, I also studied Tafsir (interpretations by scholars), specifically:
• Tafhim al-Qur’an by Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi
• Tafsir Ibn Kathir
At the end of each Surah, I have included a short commentary based on Tafhim al-Qur’an by Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi that discusses the theme and period of revelation. I have simplified and edited this commentary for clarity and ease of listening while ensuring that the essence remains intact.
Disclaimer
This English translation is an interpretation of meaning and not the Quran itself, as the Quran is only in Arabic. The original Arabic text and audio is widely available online, and I encourage those who wish to deepen their understanding to refer to it.

ensuring that more people can access and connect with the Quran. It is a small contribution, but I hope it brings benefit and joy to those who listen.
